About the University Library
The current building for the University Library was built between 1931-1934, but the University of Cambridge has owned manuscripts and books from as early as the fourteenth century, which is why 2016 is being hailed as the library's 600th birthday.
The tower stands at a startling 48 metres tall ... taller than the top of King's College Chapel, and it is the largest library of the 114 within the university.
Yep, the UL is 600. To celebrate, the library is holding numerous events and exhibitions throughout the year, This is what they have in store.
Closed on Sundays, the UL is open any other day of the week. To find out more about access for visitors, see here.
Located on the ground floor is the UL Tea Room, which serves tea and snacks. You may spot an academic (or twelve).
